It is one of the traditional fruit use by Maldivians. And we call it as “Ala” An island called “Fuvahmulah City “in Maldives is very well known for this fruit. Because they have the majority farms of it.
It can be used by boiling it, deep frying it, and as well as we can use it by microwaving it too.
But how many of you know that it is as commonly as a traditional fruit of Egypt. Yes it is. It is one of their unique traditional fruit.in Egypt it is known as Taro, or Qilqas.
They use it by usually peeling the taro tubers then boiling them and preparing them in a broth with lemon juice, garlic and coriander. And then it’s ready to serve.
Even though Maldivian serve it with our traditional dish called “Garudiya”.
